Formula Explanation

The insulin dose is calculated using the following formula and variables:

• d (Dose): The total insulin units to administer, rounded to the nearest 0.5 or whole number.
• c (Carbs Consumed): The total carbohydrates (in grams) you plan to eat.
• cpu (Carbs Per Unit): Grams of carbs covered by one unit of insulin.
• bs (Blood Sugar): Your blood sugar level (mg/dL) before eating.
• tbs (Target Blood Sugar): The desired blood sugar level.
• cd (Corrective Dose): Additional insulin if blood sugar is high.
• ca (Corrective Amount): mg/dL drop per unit of insulin.

Formula:
d = c / cpu;
if (bs > tbs) { cd = (bs - tbs) / ca; }
d += cd;
Round d to nearest 0.5.
